Day Pitney Private Client Partner Michael S. Schwartz has been appointed to serve as the Chair of the Trusts and Estates Law Section of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA). Schwartz previously has served as the Section's Vice-Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. Schwartz will work with the other officers and executive committee members of the Section on various Section initiatives. This includes analyzing and proposing New York legislative updates relating to trusts and estates in close collaboration with leading trusts and estates professionals, New York Surrogates and their staff and other professional organizations. The Trusts and Estates Law Section is one of the largest and most active Sections of the NYSBA.
Schwartz is a well-known authority in the New York trusts and estates community. He advises high-net-worth individuals, fiduciaries and family offices on sophisticated private client matters involving trusts and estates, including tax and succession planning. His practice focuses on domestic and multijurisdictional estate planning for high-net-worth individuals, extending to all facets of estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax planning. Schwartz also has extensive experience advising fiduciaries and beneficiaries with respect to all phases of the administration of estates and trusts.
