Renée A. R. Evangelista (Outstanding Mentor) and Emma Becker (Legal Services Woman to Watch)
Day Pitney is proud to announce that two of the firm's Providence-based partners have been recognized for the 2024 Business Women Awards from the Providence Business News. Day Pitney is the only firm to be named on the list twice. The annual program recognizes leading women in various business, government, and non-profit sectors and their work for their respective organizations.
"Congratulations to our partners, Renée and Emma, for being honored with these well-deserved recognitions from Providence Business News. Their contributions to our firm and the broader business community in Providence are remarkable," commented Gregory Hayes, Managing Partner of Day Pitney.
Individuals recognized by the Providence Business News are:
- Renée A. R. Evangelista, Trusts and Estates Partner and Providence Office Managing Partner, Outstanding Mentor Honoree. Evangelista has been practicing law for over 30 years. She has held leadership positions at several firms, including Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP, before founding her firm Howland Evangelista Kohlenberg, which merged with Day Pitney in 2021. Evangelista provides clients with sophisticated estate planning and estate settlement techniques to save clients gift, estate, and income taxes, while ensuring that their property passes according to their wishes. She is a trustee of numerous private trusts and has routinely served as executor of client estates. Evangelista regularly appears in Superior Court, representing trustees and trust beneficiaries on accounting actions and trust reformations. She currently sits on the Edward and Virginia Routhier Foundation and the board of advisors for the Anthony Quinn Foundation. Evangelista takes her past role as a female athlete and current role as a lawyer very seriously and has had the luxury of mentoring and advising athletes during their careers on how to set up their estate planning.
- Emma Becker, Trusts and Estates Partner, Legal Services Woman to Watch Honoree. Becker works with families and individuals on issues and concerns related to preserving, enhancing, and transferring family wealth. With sensitivity and attention to her client's interests, she designs and drafts estate plans that minimize federal and state estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer taxes, and maximize and protect the clients' wealth for each subsequent generation. At Day Pitney, Becker holds several leadership positions that are critical to the development of the attorney pipeline and retention planning, including a position on the firm's hiring committee with responsibilities that include on-going recruitment of associate talent and staffing the summer associate program.
