Jared Shwartz Joins Day Pitney, Advancing Firm's Corporate Expansion in Boston
Day Pitney LLP is expanding its corporate capabilities with the addition of Jared Shwartz as a Partner in its Corporate Practice in Boston, bringing nationally recognized experience in Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition (ETA) and search fund transactions to the firm. Shwartz’s sophisticated practice deepens Day Pitney’s presence in this increasingly active segment of the M&A market and complements the firm’s broader transactional platform, enhancing the opportunities for collaboration across practices. He is the eighth lateral partner to join the Boston office in recent years and the third corporate partner this year, following the additions of Ali Slavet and Portia Keady.
“Jared has a unique understanding of the entrepreneurs and investors driving the ETA and search fund ecosystem and the challenges they face at each stage of building, growing, and exiting a business,” said R. Scott Beach, Chair of Day Pitney’s Corporate and Business Law Department and Leader of the firm’s Family Office Practice. “His ability to guide clients through an acquisition and then remain a trusted adviser as they operate, grow, and ultimately position the business for its next chapter differentiates his practice. That combination of transactional experience, business perspective, and general counsel skill set will be a tremendous asset to our clients and our team.”
Shwartz advises private companies and their owners on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, entity choice and formation, contract and financing negotiations, and the legal issues that arise in running and growing a business. As outside general counsel to founder-led and family-owned companies, he works alongside clients as their businesses evolve, providing practical, strategic counsel through transactions, periods of growth, and ongoing operations.
At the center of Shwartz’s practice is his work in ETA, where he represents search funds, self-funded searchers, family offices, and independent sponsors through the full arc of an investment—from formation and fundraising to identifying and acquiring a business, navigating ownership, and ultimately pursuing an exit. He has represented searchers and funds across the country in transactions involving companies in a range of lower-middle-market industries, including food processing, technology and software, personal services, and manufacturing. In connection with this work, Shwartz has served as a guest lecturer in the Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition Field Course at a renowned university MBA program.
Beyond his client work, Shwartz serves as Co-Chair of the Boston Bar Association’s Business Transactions Section and in a leadership capacity on the governance committees of several greater Boston community non-profit boards.
Shwartz has also earned recognition for his work from several leading legal and business publications. He was named to The Legal 500 US Elite: Boston for Corporate and M&A in 2026 (click here for Legal 500 US Elite methodology) and to Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America for Corporate Law in 2024 and 2025 (click here for Best Lawyers methodology).
