Overview

Jared Shwartz is a partner in Day Pitney's Corporate and Business Law department. He advises businesses on a wide range of corporate and transactional matters, including entity formation and governance, mergers and acquisitions, commercial contracts and financing transactions. Jared provides strategic counsel to clients on legal issues arising from their day-to-day business operations.

A significant portion of Jared's practice focuses on entrepreneurship through acquisition (ETA). He advises traditional investor-backed search funds, self-funded searchers, and independent sponsors throughout all stages of the ETA lifecycle; from acquisition, throughout ownership, and at exit. Jared has represented searchers and funds in the acquisition and sale of businesses across a range of lower-middle-market industries, including food processing, technology and software, professional services, equipment testing services, and manufacturing. In addition to his client representation, Jared is a guest lecturer in the Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition Field Course at Harvard Business School where he teaches on the topics of the transaction timeline and bridging gaps in deal negotiations.

He also counsels health care systems, senior living operators, physicians and physician groups, dental practices and veterinary clinics on transactional and corporate advisory matters.
Prior to attending law school, Jared worked in elder care administration and operations at an assisted living and specialized care residence in the Greater Boston area. He serves on the boards of directors of Camp Bauercrest and the Jewish Community Center of Greater Boston and is co-chair of the Boston Bar Association's Business Transactions Section.
