Day Pitney Bike Drive Delivers Bikes and Helmets to Hartford Area Children
Bikes were donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Hartford, the Wilson-Gray YMCA and the Salvation Army for distribution to local families
In celebration of the start of summer and the culmination of a bike drive for local youth, the law firm Day Pitney hosted its Third Annual Block Party on Pratt Street in downtown Hartford on June 26. For the third year, Day Pitney attorneys and staff donated more than 100 bikes and helmets to three local organizations that support Hartford area families–the Boys and Girls Club of Hartford, Wilson-Gray YMCA and Salvation Army.
"Day Pitney believes that part of doing business in a community, means that you are an active part of the community. By working with these local organizations, we are able to again put bikes into children's hands and help make their summers that much brighter," said Kathleen D. Monnes, Day Pitney's Hartford office managing partner and organizer of the firm's bike drive. "We want to extend our sincere thanks to the Boys and Girls Club of Hartford, the Wilson-Gray YMCA and the Salvation Army, for allowing us an opportunity to partner with them as they meet the needs of local Hartford children."
The event featured local businesses and entertainers, such as the Magic of Christopher, a local wandering magician. Delicious foods, festive cocktails and beer were enjoyed from Sorella, Vaughan's, El Gallo y El Coqui, Hartford Flavor Company, and Italian Ices of Connecticut, while local musicians, Christopher John and The Hooch, an acoustic duo, entertained the guests. Sunberry Café and Catering provided bubble teas, while Bloom Bake Shop served up sweet confections. Block party guests were invited to take pictures with Chompers, a mascot for the Hartford Yard Goats, and play games, such as cornhole and giant Jenga.
In the last several years, through the generous contributions of our attorneys and staff, the firm has donated over 350 bikes and helmets to Hartford community charities.
