Scott Brian Clark has joined Day Pitney as Chair of its Multistate Tax practice. He was previously a partner at Dentons US LLP based in its New York office. He will be based in the Stamford, Connecticut office, and he will spend time at the firm's New York City, Greenwich and West Palm Beach offices.
"Scott's practice handles all aspects of SALT planning, audits, appeals and litigation with particular strengths in domicile/ residency, which are vital to our Individual Clients Department and Family Office Practice, as well as M&A support and due diligence for our Corporate Department," said Day Pitney Managing Partner Thomas D. For more than 30 years, Clark has been at the forefront of the state and local tax world. He is well-versed in the intricacies of tax planning and controversy. He has handled a vast number of diverse high-profile cases and issues and has significant tax experience representing both prominent entertainers and personalities, ultra-high net worth individuals, and well-known domestic and multi-national companies.
Clark has also been integrally involved with cutting-edge tax issues that impact income and sales taxes, transfer taxes, global communications and digital taxes, among others. He has served as a senior advisor to many of the world's most significant companies on issues of tax planning, as well as controversy and settlements of significant tax disputes in most of the 50 states. Clark has been particularly well-known for his work in the telecommunications, broadband, and internet tax arena and served as an initial drafter of the early white papers on the taxation of e-commerce, technology, and communications, where he was involved in the formation and activities of the Congressional Advisory Commission on Electronic Commerce, as well as similar commissions and industry groups.
Prior to joining private law practice, Clark was a partner and co-leader of PricewaterhouseCooper's national multistate Tax and Legal Services Communications practice. Earlier in his career he was the Associate Tax Counsel for GTE (now Verizon) in Stamford, Connecticut.

Clark received his B.B.A. in Business Administration from The George Washington University, his LL.M. in Taxation from Quinnipiac University, and his J.D. from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University. He is an active member of the state bar in New York, Connecticut, Florida, and Washington, DC. Additionally, Clark serves as a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and is a Certified Public Accountant in New York State.
