Overview

Jacob Golan focuses his practice on intellectual property law with particular experience in biotechnology, bioinformatics, A.I., medical device innovations, agrotechnology, and material science. He counsels clients on the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications, trademark filings, and intellectual property portfolio management. Jacob also advises on IP due diligence and licensing matters, drawing on his scientific background to help clients navigate complex issues related to patentability, infringement, and freedom-to-operate analyses.

Jacob's scientific background includes a Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he received training in genomics, computational biology and biophysics. He has authored several peer-review journal articles and received numerous fellowships and awards. He also has experience as a Research and Development Scientist for a biotechnology company, where he developed molecular techniques for breeding novel fungal strains for patent filings.
