Day Pitney Partner and co-chair of the Data Privacy, Protection and Litigation Practice William J. Roberts, along with Associates Stephanie Gomes-Ganhão, Colton Kopcik, and Jacob Buttiker, recently authored the guidance note "Connecticut - Privacy Overview" for OneTrust Data Guidance. The article provides an overview of Connecticut’s data privacy framework, focusing on the Connecticut Data Privacy Act (CTDPA) and its key amendments, including changes taking effect through July 2026. It addresses the law’s scope and applicability, core data protection principles, consumer rights, controller and processor obligations, and enforcement by the Connecticut Attorney General, while highlighting emerging compliance issues such as expanded definitions of sensitive data, enhanced protections for minors, and evolving consent and opt-out requirements.
