Overview

Christopher "Chris" Head advises clients on a broad range of intellectual property matters, with a focus on patent prosecution and counseling in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, alternative fuel, mechanical, and chemical sectors. His practice includes preparing and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications, conducting freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses, and supporting clients in strategic IP planning and portfolio management. Chris works with a diverse client base, including corporations, academic institutions, and research organizations, to help protect and advance innovation.

Before joining Day Pitney, Chris was an associate at an Am Law 200 law firm, where he counseled clients in the life sciences and chemical industries on IP matters. He also gained experience at an Am Law 100 firm as a law clerk in the patent prosecution group, supporting sophisticated patent strategies for cutting-edge technologies.

Chris is currently a candidate for a Master of Science in Biotechnology with a concentration in Molecular Targets and Drug Discovery at The Johns Hopkins University, which he is expected to complete in May 2026.
