Key to Sean ‘Diddy' Combs's Defense: Admitting He Was a Terrible Boyfriend

Day Pitney White Collar Partner Steve Reynolds was recently featured in The Wall Street Journal article, “Key to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’s Defense: Admitting He Was a Terrible Boyfriend,” where he shared insights on the defense strategy to concede Combs’ abusive behavior while arguing it does not legally establish racketeering or sex trafficking.   

Commenting on the defense team’s legal strategy, Reynolds, a former federal prosecutor, stated, “It’s a tough sell because you are telling your client we effectively have to admit x, y, z.” Reynolds noted, however, that candidly acknowledging Combs’ conduct, even if it causes further reputational damage, is key to maintaining credibility with the jury.
