Shuttered Miami wedding hall could be replaced with apartments
Day Pitney Miami Land Use Partner Steven Wernick was recently featured in the South Florida Business Journal discussing a proposal to redevelop a shuttered wedding hall in Miami’s Coral Way neighborhood into the 166-unit Kanso Coral Way apartment community. Wernick, who represents AvalonBay Communities in the application, explained that the project has been thoughtfully designed to transition down to three stories along its western edge, incorporating townhouse-style residences and enhanced landscaping to better complement the surrounding neighborhood. He added that the developer is seeking only a limited parking reduction and, if the city’s review process proceeds as anticipated, could secure permits later this year.
“If you see many of the projects on Coral Way, many of them are townhouses or rowhouses. The developer spent a lot of time on the landscaping and streetscape plans,” he commented.
