Day Pitney Launches Healthcare Practice in Florida with Arrival of New Lateral Partner Magda Rodriguez in Miami
Magda C. Rodriguez has joined Day Pitney as a Healthcare Partner in the firm's Healthcare Life Sciences and Technology practice. Rodriguez's healthcare industry experience is the latest addition to the firm's growing corporate capabilities in South Florida, which also include real estate, family office, private equity, investment management and other practices supporting the needs of corporate clients. She is based in the firm's Miami office.
"With the arrival of Magda, we can expand our already nationally-focused healthcare practice to Florida and further strengthen our bench with her regulatory, corporate, and litigation-based healthcare experience," commented Manuel A. Garcia-Linares, Day Pitney Florida Offices Managing Partner.
Rodriguez represents a diverse range of healthcare entities, including health systems, hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, and physician practices. She assists healthcare clients in all aspects of operational and regulatory guidance and regularly counsels on litigation avoidance. Rodriguez also provides representation in civil litigation and government investigations.
Drawing on her extensive background, Rodriguez advises healthcare entities on navigating the ever-changing healthcare industry, including the intricacies of data privacy requirements, investigations of data breaches, and compliance with state and federal reporting obligations. Her experience also extends to the successful defense of several class action lawsuits related to insurance payments and coordination of benefits under insurance policies, as well as those arising from data breaches. Rodriguez regularly provides invaluable support to hospitals, aiding them in operational matters like physician peer review proceedings, revising medical staff bylaws and policies, and ensuring compliance with National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) reporting requirements. She established her foundation in the healthcare industry prior to attending law school when she worked in a physician's office.
"I'm looking forward to providing my current and prospective healthcare clients the full roster of capabilities that Day Pitney offers, including trusts and estates, corporate, and litigation capabilities," added Rodriguez.
Rodriguez is a member of the Health Law Section of both The Florida Bar and the American Bar Association. She is also fluent in Spanish. Rodriguez earned her B.A. from the University of Miami and her J.D. from St. Thomas University School of Law. She is admitted to practice law in Florida.
