Day Pitney Managing Partner Thomas Goldberg has been appointed by Chief Judge Stefan Underhill to the District of Connecticut Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel. The responsibilities of the panel include reviewing applications of candidates for a U.S. Magistrate Judge position to replace Magistrate Judge William I. Garfinkel, who will retire in March 2021. Within 90 days of their appointment, the panel will provide the district court with a recommendation of five applicants to interview for the current vacancy.
"It is an honor to have been selected, alongside my fellow panelists, to play an important role in the selection of the applicants for the Judge vacancy. I look forward to working with the District of Connecticut and with the panel," says Goldberg. He has served on numerous boards and served on the panel to select a successor to Magistrate Judge Donna Martinez in 2019.
