Day Pitney LLP was proud to receive the Diversity Champion of the Year award from the New Jersey Muslim Lawyers Association (NJMLA) at its 4th annual gala, which was held on November 15 at the Hyatt Regency in New Brunswick, NJ. The event celebrated legal industry trailblazers in the Muslim community throughout New Jersey. In addition, Day Pitney contributed to an NJMLA scholarship, the recipients of which include Wael Amer, a Seton Hall University School of Law student who was a summer associate with the firm in 2019 and will be an incoming associate next year.
Partner Ben Haglund accepted the award on behalf of the firm. Also in attendance were partner Mark Salah Morgan and director of diversity and inclusion Tommy Shi, along with 2020 Day Pitney summer associates Willy Martinez and Matt Moore. Other event honorees included Khadijah Sharif-Drinkard, Esq., Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs, Black Entertainment Television (BET), LLC and the Honorable Zahid N. Quraishi, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New Jersey.
