In celebration of Women's History Month, Day Pitney hosted guest speaker Gary Ford, Jr., author and Assistant Professor of Africana Studies at Lehman College. Mr. Ford discussed his book, Constance Baker Motley, One Woman's Fight for Civil Rights and Equal Justice under Law, and participated in a Q&A with Day Pitney partner Christiana Gianopulos.
Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Constance Baker Motley was a civil rights activist, lawyer, the first woman president of the New York City Borough of Manhattan, the first African-American woman state senator of New York, and the first African-American woman federal court judge (Southern District of New York).
Mr. Ford's presentation took place in the firm's New York City office and was video conferenced live to all other Day Pitney offices.
