The Hartford Business Journal today announced that Day Pitney partner Erick M. Sandler had been named to its list of "40 Under Forty" for 2012. The award honors "the most outstanding business leaders in the greater Hartford community," respected throughout their fields. In addition to his trial practice, Erick is a member of the firm's Appellate practice group and has handled appeals in federal and state courts.
Erick has litigated constitutional claims, including successful First Amendment challenges to the application of state lobbying and electioneering laws.
Erick also has represented parties in trials under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, including two matters that reached the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, Gitter v. Gitter, 396 F.3d 124 (2005) and Daunis v. Daunis, 222 Fed. Appx. 32 (2007). In recognition of his trial and appellate advocacy in the Daunis case, Erick received a Connecticut Bar Association Pro Bono Award.
Erick Sandler practices in the areas of complex business disputes and shareholder and securities litigation. Erick has handled large scale litigation matters for national and local clients, including public utilities, financial institutions, insurers, manufacturers and suppliers, nonprofit organizations, and individual clients. Erick's experience includes matters involving breach of contract, antitrust, unfair trade practices, fiduciary duties, bankruptcy, tax disputes, and trust and estates. Erick also represents clients in matters involving the Connecticut Attorney General's Office and regulatory agencies.
