Miami ballot item could simplify how the city sells public land
Day Pitney Land Use Counsel Joseph Ruiz was recently featured in the South Florida Business Journal discussing Miami’s Referendum 2, a ballot measure set to go before voters on Nov. 4. In the piece, he discussed the potential ramifications of the proposal and what it would mean if adopted, noting that it would potentially streamline the sale or lease of underutilized city-owned properties, make redevelopment more efficient, and bring Miami’s process for public land transactions more in line with other South Florida municipalities.
“This is going to be an opportunity to redevelop and activate these properties in a more efficient manner than having to go to a referendum each time,” he said.
