Day Pitney’s Complex Commercial Litigation group is seeking an associate with 2-4 years of commercial litigation experience to join our team in our New York City office.

We are looking for candidates with New York litigation experience and familiarity with the state and federal courts in New York.  Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience in all aspects of complex commercial litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions and briefs; taking and defending depositions; attending court conferences and hearings; arguing motions; conducting legal research; preparing and responding to discovery; handling day-to-day case management; and participating in trial preparation.  New York judicial clerkship experience is a plus. Experience or interest in fiduciary litigation, particularly in New York State Surrogate’s Court, is a plus.

Position Requirements

  • 2-4 years of demonstrated New York litigation experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong courtroom advocacy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical, business-minded approach
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and client service skills
  • Self-motivated, driven, resourceful, and able to thrive in a collaborative team environment
  • Commitment to learning and developing into an integral member of New York litigation and complex commercial litigation practice
  • New York judicial clerkship experience is a plus
  • Experience or interest in fiduciary litigation, particularly in New York State Surrogate’s Court is a plus
  • Admission to practice law in New York is required
