Land Use and Development Manager
Position Overview:
Land Use and Development Consultant will support the Firm's Real Estate and Land Use Group. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in local land development processes within Miami-Dade County and experience navigating regulatory frameworks, zoning and development applications, and aligning client business objectives with local government policy objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys with preparation, filing, and tracking of land use and zoning applications, including rezonings, variances, special exceptions, and site plan approvals
- Coordinate and manage submissions through local municipal and county agencies in Miami-Dade County
- Conduct legal and regulatory research related to zoning codes, comprehensive plans, and LDRs
- Draft correspondence, memoranda, reports, and support due diligence for real estate transactions
- Assist with development capacity analysis and strategic roadmaps for real estate development
- Monitor project timelines, public hearing agendas, and deadlines
- Communicate with clients, consultants, and government staff to advance client objectives
- Managing and implementing community engagement strategy for complex public hearing applications
- Takes ownership of assignments, works independently to advance matters, and keeps attorneys and clients appropriately informed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a U.S.-accredited college or university
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in land use, zoning, or planning, either in local government or private sector within South Florida, including experience in management
- Strong knowledge of local land development and zoning processes in Miami-Dade County
- Deep relationships within municipal, county and state government in Florida
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Professional Software, GIS Tools
- Proficiency with Municode, CodeHub, ProjectDox, and similar digital permitting/review platforms
- Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or similar field
- AICP Accreditation or comparable planning industry accreditation
- Spanish language proficiency
