Information Resources Specialist
Job Description
The Information Resources Specialist is responsible for supporting the Firm's research and cite checking needs. The Information Resources Specialist handles multiple requests daily from attorneys and staff, supporting legal departments and administrative departments, including Business Development & Marketing and Finance.
This role allows for remote working. This is a non-exempt position and is eligible for overtime with the approval from the Manager of Information Resources.
Responsibilities
Performs (but not limited to) the following responsibilities:
- Address and People Contact Information Lookup
- Background Information on Individuals, including Attorneys, Executives and Judges
- Book/Publication Retrieval from Internal Collection and via Interlibrary Loan
- Cases/Articles/Court Filings/Document Research and Retrieval
- Cite Checking (Bluebook, Case History, and Quote Check) of Attorney Documents, including briefs, memoranda, articles and similar documents
- Company, Industry and Public Records Research
- Company Information Requests for Business Development
- Corporate Transaction Reports and SEC Filings Research
- Docket Alerts, Retrieval, Searching and Tracking
- Email Alerts on Cases, Companies, People, etc.
- Expert Witness Research
- General Reference and Research
- Legislative Alerts, Histories, Research, Retrieval and Tracking
- Litigation History Reports
- Maintenance of Library Collection
- Model Documents, Forms, and Sample Agreements & Clauses Research and Retrieval
- Research Guidance and Tips
- Table of Authorities (TOAs) for Attorney Documents
- Training on Research Tools
- Verdicts and Settlements Research
Qualifications/Research & Technical Competencies
- Masters in Library Science or equivalent degree or equivalent experience in a professional setting
- Ability to cite check briefs and similar documents using a Bluebook and WestCheck
- Ability to create Table of Authorities (TOAs) for briefs and similar documents using Best Authority
- Ability to multitask and bring assignments to completion
- Ability to use multiple research tools, including Bloomberg Law, ChatGPT, Checkpoint, CoCounsel, HeinOnline, Law.com, PACER, Practical Law, S&P Global (Capital IQ), VitalLaw, and Westlaw
- Ability to use multiple web browsers and be able to identify browser specific limitations
- Ability to use Excel, Outlook and Word
- Ability to use iManage and Enterprise Search
- Detail oriented
- Excellent verbal and written skills
Compensation & Benefits
This position offers a compensation range of $70,000 to $75,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications. Staff may also be eligible for discretionary year-end bonuses and annual merit-based increases.
