Hot Topics: Finding Opportunities in the Uncertainty
American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC)
Tasha Dickinson recently presented as a panelist at the annual meeting for the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). The topic for the presentation was, "Hot Topics: Finding Opportunities in Uncertainty." The panel discussed a variety of topics relevant to the trusts and estates industry today, including the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic fallout, the political environment, and past and present relief and stimulus packages, all of which could significantly change the practice of law in this area. The panel also examined recent developments, cases, rulings, and legislation that impact the trusts and estates practice in the areas of fiduciary litigation, income and transfer tax, planning in anticipation of possible changes, electronic wills, remote execution of documents, and uniform acts.
The ACTEC annual meeting brings together practitioners from all over the country for committee meetings and peer presentations, and there were more than 700 participants at the "Hot Topics" panel. The theme for this year's annual meeting was, "Smart Estate Planning: 2021 and Beyond." Learn more about the ACTEC here.
