On November 13, 2012, Day Pitney participated in the 2012 Boston Bar Association Beacon Award celebration held at the Liberty Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts. This year GLAD (Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders) and the Attorney General's Office of Massachusetts were honored for their work as lawyers in advancing same sex marriage through their effort to challenge the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). The awards were accepted on behalf of GLAD by Mary Bonauto, Civil Rights Project Director, and on behalf of the AG's office by Martha Coakley, Massachusetts Attorney General. Boston office lawyers Sara Colb, David Lieberman, Steve Ziobrowski, and Bill Pezzoni and Director of Diversity Asker Saeed joined many professional colleagues and clients at the event.
