Environmental Transactional and Regulatory Associate
Day Pitney is seeking an associate with a minimum of four years of environmental law experience to join our well-established Environmental practice in our Hartford (preferred) or New Haven, Connecticut office.
Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience advising clients on complex environmental and regulatory matters in Connecticut, including environmental transactions and due diligence, regulatory compliance and enforcement, permitting, site remediation, state environmental regulations across all media, and risk mitigation related to real estate development and business transactions.
Experience with environmental administrative proceedings, litigation, and enforcement matters before state, federal, and local environmental regulatory agencies is preferred. Experience with key federal environmental, health, and safety statutes and regulations; emerging contaminants and evolving regulatory standards; Massachusetts and New York state requirements; international chemical regulation and remedial obligations; and engagement with environmental regulatory bodies, including the Connecticut Siting Council, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the United States Army Corps of Engineers is desirable.

About Our Environmental Team
Day Pitney's Environmental practice is a core component of the firm's full-service platform. Our environmental attorneys advise public and private clients across a wide range of industries, including real estate development, energy and infrastructure, manufacturing, healthcare, financial services, and higher education.
The team regularly advises clients on environmental aspects of mergers, acquisitions, financings, and real estate transactions; conducts and oversees environmental due diligence; negotiates environmental provisions and risk allocation mechanisms; and advises on permitting, compliance, and enforcement matters under federal, state, and local environmental laws. We also represent clients in administrative proceedings, enforcement actions, cost recovery matters, and complex site remediation projects, including brownfield redevelopment.

Position Requirements
- Minimum of four years of demonstrated experience in complex environmental transactional and regulatory matters
- Demonstrated ability to independently and proactively manage matters, including anticipating client needs and managing deadlines and deliverables with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent legal research, technical, project management, and client service skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical, business-oriented approach
- Admission to practice law in Connecticut is required; dual admission in New York and/or Massachusetts is a plus
