Day Pitney's John Serio Named a 2026 Life Sciences "Go-To Lawyer" by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly

Day Pitney LLP is pleased to announce that John C. Serio, Of Counsel in the firm’s Intellectual Property and Technology Practice, has been selected as a 2026 Life Sciences “Go-To Lawyer” by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.

Inspired by Perry Mason to pursue a legal career and influenced by his father’s work as a pharmacist, Serio ultimately found a way to unite his lifelong interest in law with his scientific background. With decades of legal experience, Serio advises biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, health care, and food companies on intellectual property and FDA regulatory matters. His interdisciplinary approach enables clients to develop coordinated strategies for protecting, developing, and commercializing innovative products. He holds a B.S. from the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy and a J.D. from Western New England University School of Law. 

Serio’s practice includes U.S. and international patent prosecution, patentability and right-to-use opinions, licensing and enforcement strategies, intellectual property litigation, and transactions involving life sciences technologies. He also guides clients through FDA approval and compliance matters involving drugs, medical devices, over-the-counter products, dietary supplements, foods, and cosmetics.

In addition to his client work, Serio serves as a mentor and resource to attorneys within Day Pitney’s Intellectual Property and Technology Practice. He is a member of the Boston Bar Association and the Boston Patent Law Association and served as a judge for the 2026 LSPN Awards USA. Serio was previously recognized among Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s Life Sciences “Go-To Lawyers” from 2022 through 2024.
