Day Pitney's Elizabeth A. Alquist Named Connecticut's Intellectual Property Practitioner of the Year
Day Pitney LLP is proud to announce that Intellectual Property Partner Elizabeth A. (“Beth”) Alquist has been named Intellectual Property Practitioner of the Year at the Second Annual Connecticut Distinguished IP Practitioners’ Dinner, held on November 13. Alquist was nominated for this distinction for her exceptional skill in managing complex intellectual property disputes, proven record of success in high-stakes litigation, and steadfast dedication to serving clients and the broader legal community.
The Distinguished IP Practitioners’ Dinner, organized by Connecticut’s intellectual property community—including the Connecticut Intellectual Property Association (CIPLA), the Connecticut Bar Association IP Section, and the Arterton IP Inn of Court—recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of intellectual property law. Now in its second year, the event introduced four award categories, including the IP Practitioner of the Year Award, which honors an attorney who has had a significant impact within the field of intellectual property law and strong connection to the State of Connecticut. According to the organizers, recipients are selected based on their body of recent work, including substantial achievements within the past year in areas such as litigation, negotiations, settlements, and the protection of intellectual property rights.
Based in Hartford, Alquist is a nationally recognized trial lawyer who represents leading businesses in complex intellectual property and technology-related disputes. Her practice spans patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, noncompetition, and commercial matters litigated in federal and state courts, as well as before the International Trade Commission (ITC), Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). She has tried more than 20 cases to verdict and judgment in federal and state courts. In 2025, Alquist secured major client victories, including a decisive judgment following a multi-week software licensing trial, the successful resolution of a billion-dollar copyright dispute, and continued representation of clients in high-stakes product and brand protection matters across industries.
A top rainmaker and firm leader, Alquist serves on Day Pitney’s three-member Executive Committee, where she helps drive strategic direction, oversee firm management, and guide long-term growth initiatives. She has previously chaired the firm’s Litigation department, its Intellectual Property practice group, and its women’s initiative, Women Working Together (WWT®), serving as a mentor and role model to many.
Alquist’s professional excellence and leadership have been widely recognized. She was recently named to the 2026 Lawdragon 500 Leading Litigators in America list (click here for Lawdragon’s methodology) and is a recipient of the Connecticut Bar Association’s prestigious Ladder Award (click here for the Connecticut Bar Association’s methodology).
