Conflicts and Intake Analyst
Summary:
The Conflicts Analyst supports the firm's risk management and new business intake functions by conducting thorough, accurate and timely conflict-of-interest searches including corporate affiliations research, prioritizing and reporting potential issues to requesting attorneys, and assisting with issue resolution. This position works closely with attorneys and administrative departments to identify, document, rank, and properly clear potential conflicts involving new clients, matters, related parties, and other firm business relationships. The ideal candidate has prior conflicts experience working in a mid to large-sized law firm, strong knowledge of conflicts and new business intake principles, solid understanding of professional responsibility requirements governing law firms and lawyers, and a proven ability to work through conflicts issues from initial identification to resolution.
Primary Duties:
- Review and process incoming requests for conflict searches, new clients, new matters, related parties, and other firm business.
- Conduct comprehensive research and database searches using IntApp, D&B, CapitalIQ, and related firm systems and research tools.
- Analyze search results to identify potential issues, including possible conflicts rising from affiliates and corporate relationships.
- Differentiate relevant hits from false positives and clearly summarize findings for review.
- Ensure reports and intake requests are complete and accurate and work directly with assistants and attorneys to close information gaps and obtain missing information.
- Thoroughly research affiliations, family relationships, adverse parties, subsidiaries, parent companies, and other related entities.
- Assist with recommending resolution strategies, including waivers, consents, ethical walls, engagement terms, matter restrictions, and other risk mitigation measures.
- Prepare clear analyst summaries, conflict reports, and related communications.
- Monitor outstanding items for thorough processing and follow up to ensure proper closing of searches, database items, and requests that are no longer needed.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of research, analysis, decisions, approvals, and resolution steps.
- Apply firm policies, professional responsibility rules, and established procedures consistently while recognizing matters requiring escalation.
- Coordinate with Matter Maintenance, Records, Finance, Billing, Recruiting, and other departments as needed.
- Assist with quality control, data cleanup, process improvements, and updates to conflicts procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality concerning client information and firm operations.
- Perform other related duties as projects as assigned.
Requirement/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Prior conflicts, new business intake, or similar risk management experience
- Experience analyzing and resolving potential conflicts within a law firm environment
- Knowledge of current client, former client, lateral hire, positional, and business conflicts
- Experience using conflicts, intake, and workflow software applications such as IntApp
- Working knowledge of databases and reporting as they relate to conflicts and intake
- Experience with corporate research tools such as Capital IQ, Westlaw, and D&B
- Familiarity with law firm structure, intake processes, and legal terminology
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications and online corporate research tools
- Proven ability to identify conflicts and maintain data with near 100% accuracy
- Ability to manage simultaneous tasks and competing priorities under minimal supervision
- Ability to draw complex and correct conclusions not readily apparent from data alone

Compensation & Benefits
This position offers a compensation range of $75,000 to $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications. Staff may also be eligible for discretionary year-end bonuses and annual merit-based increases.
