Financial Analyst – Hartford, CT

Position Summary:

Prestigious national law firm seeking a motivated, quick learner, technology savvy and detail-oriented individual with 0-2 years of finance experience to join our finance department as a Financial Analyst. As a Financial Analyst, you will play a crucial role in supporting our financial operations and have the opportunity to learn the business from the ground up. This work will include but is not limited to: financial reporting, analysis of key performance indicators, use of business intelligence software, peer analysis, budgeting, matter pricing and legal project management. Position requires advanced Microsoft Excel (i.e. VLOOKUPS and Pivot Tables) and PowerPoint skills.

This is a hybrid role based out of the firm's Hartford office.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for key internal stakeholders.
  • Financial Analysis: Compile and manipulate data from financial system into Excel on key metrics. Interpret, summarize and communicate results.
  • Business Intelligence: Proactively look for opportunities to optimize current reporting and develop new approaches to gain efficiency and more insight into financial results.
  • Peer Reporting Analysis: Prepare comparative analyses of legal industry metrics from surveys and other sources.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets, forecasts and monitor performance.
  • Pricing Analysis: Model and evaluate pricing scenarios based on different types of fee arrangements.
  • Legal Project Management: Collaborate with partners to monitor and analyze project budgets, track billable hours, and evaluate project performance against budget.
  • Ad-Hoc Analysis: Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by management to support strategic initiatives, special projects, and decision-making processes.
  • Support and backup other members in the finance department.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office is essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Proficient in multitasking and handling multiple projects with varying deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
