Day Pitney Receives 2023 Connecticut Law Firm Award from Lawyers for Children America
During a ceremony held on September 14 at the Glastonbury Boathouse in Glastonbury, Connecticut, Day Pitney LLP was honored by Lawyers for Children America (LFCA) with its 2023 Connecticut Law Firm Award. This recognition celebrates the efforts of Day Pitney's many attorneys who provide pro bono representation of children who are alleged to be victims of abuse or neglect.
Since 1996, more than 135 Day Pitney lawyers, paralegals and summer associates have collaborated with LFCA to represent close to 200 children throughout Connecticut. The firm has provided more than 10,000 hours of legal services valued at approximately $3.5M.
LFCA is a lead child advocacy organization protecting the rights of children who are victims of abuse, abandonment or neglect by providing quality pro bono legal representation and advocating for systematic change to improve the lives of children. The award selection is based upon the number of pro bono attorneys working on LFCA cases, the number of hours dedicated to these cases, and the total dollar values of the pro bono attorneys' legal representation.
Rebecca Iannantuoni, a partner at Day Pitney, conveyed her appreciation for LFCA's recognition of Day Pitney, noting, "Our collaboration with LFCA spans over two decades. Our attorneys involved in LFCA cases have witnessed firsthand the profound difference that dedicated legal support can make in a child's life. We are privileged to partner with LFCA in safeguarding Connecticut's children." Iannantuoni graciously accepted the award representing the firm and its attorneys.
Stephanie M. Gomes-Ganhão, an associate at Day Pitney, emphasized the significance of representing these vulnerable children, sharing, "It's not just about legal representation; it's a chance to be a beacon of hope in a child's life. Engaging in this pro bono work offers a profound opportunity to make a tangible difference, ensuring that every child, regardless of their circumstances, has a voice and a chance for a brighter future."
