Overview
Liza Hecht counsels corporations, not-for-profit entities and executives regarding the application of the Internal Revenue Code and ERISA to employee benefit plans, executive compensation agreements and pension plan investment materials. Working with U.S.-based employers and employees, global corporations and cross-border employees, she provides practical advice on the design, implementation and operation of retirement plans (401(k), 403(b), SERPs, pensions), welfare benefit programs, executive compensation programs (equity-based and traditional deferred compensation) and severance pay arrangements.
Liza regularly advises employers on operational and correction procedures for employee benefit plans. She has successfully represented companies before the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Department of Labor, either proactively as part of a voluntary correction program or in response to a government initiated audit. Liza has extensive experience drafting plan documents and summary plan descriptions. She regularly performs due diligence and transitional consulting with respect to employee benefit programs in corporate transactions and reviews pension plan investment materials.
