Leading with strength in tax matters, Daniel "Dan" Gottfried, chair of the International Transactions group, assists clients with structuring, negotiating and documenting business deals and investment transactions. This assistance includes federal, state and international tax planning and compliance; corporate mergers, acquisitions and dispositions; joint ventures; partnerships; and S corporations. Dan also has particular experience assisting clients with tax issues relating to intellectual property assets.
Gottfried represents a variety of business entities, including publicly traded companies, entrepreneurial businesses, private investment funds and family office investors. He has extensive experience advising companies expanding in to the United States and U.S. companies expanding globally. Working across industries, he has experience in manufacturing, fintech, wireless communications, insurance, liquor and wine, energy, medical devices, higher education and emerging industries, such as blockchain, cryptocurrency and cannabis. He helped to establish VentureGeeks – Israel's first privately funded start-up accelerator.
Dan has written many articles and spoken before many professional organizations on tax topics. Among others, he has been featured in The New York Times, The Hollywood Reporter, National Public Radio, Standard Federal Tax Reports, Hartford Business Journal and Tax Notes International. Dan has also served as an adjunct professor at The University of Connecticut School of Law.
