Colleen Donovan, the Commercial Real Estate and Development Transactions practice group chair, is a commercial real estate attorney representing corporations, developers and investors in the disposition, acquisition, development, leasing and financing of commercial real estate projects throughout the North East and the U.S. Colleen has substantial experience with environmental matters, regularly handling environmental contamination issues associated with the purchase, sale and financing/disposition of contaminated properties and brownfields.
Colleen counsels clients in all aspects of the purchase, sale, leasing and development of real estate frequently involving contaminated properties and often manages the transaction due diligence in those projects including identifying potential risks and liabilities and negotiating purchase and sale agreements and environmental indemnification agreements. Colleen also advises clients with respect to compliance obligations under New Jersey's Industrial Site Recovery Act (formerly the Environmental Cleanup Responsibility Act), underground storage tank regulations, and other laws regulating the use and disposition of real estate in New Jersey. She frequently works with environmental consultants, overseeing the preparation of remedial investigations and remedial action work plans, and assists a wide variety of clients with environmental compliance and permitting issues before state agencies. She also represents clients with regard to inspection and compliance reviews for sites throughout the nation. Colleen is a former member of the firm's Executive Board.
