Day Pitney Grows Energy Team with Washington, D.C. Partner Mark Williams
Day Pitney LLP is pleased to announce that Mark C. Williams has joined the firm's Energy practice as a Partner in its Washington, D.C. office. Williams brings more than 30 years of experience in the sector to the firm's nationally ranked practice. The addition of Williams is the latest success of the firm's strategic growth initiative, which has resulted in a series of lateral hires across corporate, litigation, tax, real estate, trusts and estates, energy, intellectual property and healthcare practices in multiple geographies.

Williams represents clients that invest in the electric power and natural gas industries. He advises private equity funds, insurance-sector investors, banks, pension funds, multinational institutional investors, hedge funds, and traditional investment funds on the complex regulatory requirements applicable to electricity and gas investments. He also advises on financings, mergers, acquisitions, securities, and restructuring transactions. Before entering private practice, Williams was the sole attorney in the Division of Corporate Applications of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). In that role, he advised the commission on merger, divestiture, financing, independent power, and electrical transmission system matters and led more than 100 commission orders in transactional-regulatory matters.

Williams has been an active member of the Energy Bar Association (EBA) and is a past member of the Board of the Foundation of the Energy Law Journal. In addition to his bar activities, he is a former commissioner of the Revenue Bond Authority for the City of Alexandria, Virginia. Williams speaks and writes regularly on pertinent energy issues, such as electric transactional and policy issues.
