Paul Halasz Confirmed to New Jersey Superior Court
Day Pitney LLP partner Paul J. Halasz has been confirmed by the New Jersey State Senate to serve on the New Jersey Superior Court in Morris County. Halasz, who was nominated to serve on the bench by Governor Phil Murphy in September, will take the oath of office next month.
"On behalf of all our attorneys and colleagues, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Paul on this well-deserved appointment," said Gregory A. Hayes, Managing Partner at Day Pitney. "Throughout his distinguished career at Day Pitney, he has excelled at representing clients in a broad array of litigation matters. We look forward to Paul's contributions to the judiciary, and we are extremely proud to see him join the ranks of former colleagues now serving on the state and federal bench."
Halasz spent more than three decades in private practice at Day Pitney, where he was a partner in the firm's Commercial Litigation department. Paul began his career working on product liability and mass tort matters and later developed a practice focusing on franchise law, class actions and construction disputes, among other specialties. He also represented clients in consumer law matters, professional liability claims and antitrust counseling. Throughout his career, Paul represented pro bono clients in a variety of contexts, including civil liberties cases, guardianship matters and non-profit counseling. Halasz earned both his B.A. and J.D. from Rutgers University and is admitted to practice in New Jersey, as well as the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Federal, Second and Third Circuits and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Halasz continues the legacy of Day Pitney lawyers who have ascended to the bench on the state and federal levels, including former U.S. Supreme Court Justice William Brennan.
