Day Pitney Welcomes Tax Partner Amy Drais
Day Pitney is pleased to announce that Amy Drais has joined the firm as a Tax Partner in the Stamford office. Prior to joining Day Pitney, Drais served as International Tax Director and Tax Counsel at Thomson Reuters. At Day Pitney, Drais will leverage her experience with cross-border and domestic federal income tax issues to support the firm's corporate and private client practices in a wide range of complex tax matters for clients. The addition of Drais is the latest success of the firm's strategic growth initiative, which has resulted in a series of lateral hires across corporate, litigation, tax, real estate, trusts and estates, energy, and healthcare practices in multiple geographies.
"Amy's experience across a variety of different tax disciplines makes her precisely the type of senior tax attorney we need to provide the high-level guidance that both our Corporate and Private Client Department clients expect from our attorneys," stated R. Scott Beach, chair of the Corporate and Business Law department. "Given her in-house and private practice roles, she brings a diversity of experience to our tax department that will greatly benefit our entire team."
Before Thomson Reuters, Drais was an attorney in the Tax Department at several Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York law firms. She has extensive experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, private investment funds, joint ventures, and general securities matters, as well as other international and domestic tax matters. Drais also advises fund managers, investment funds, and fund investors on Subchapter K (partnership) tax matters in connection with, among other things, fund formation, management structures, and structuring for investments, including REITs.
"I am thrilled to join Day Pitney's distinguished tax team, where I look forward to collaborating with talented colleagues to provide our clients with innovative and comprehensive tax solutions to complex challenges," commented Drais.
Drais earned her B.A. from Wellesley College, M.S.F.S. from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, and J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
With the addition of Drais, Day Pitney has now added two experienced partners to its tax group this summer to meet the needs of its growing practices. In June, the firm brought over Ryan Leichsenring, a seasoned tax partner focusing on advising tax-exempt organizations on federal and state tax law issues and transactional matters, and businesses and individuals on multistate taxation issues and other federal and state tax controversies.
