Day Pitney Litigation department chair Manuel Garcia-Linares was featured in the Daily Business Review's article "'It's a Game Changer': What DeSantis' New Laws Mean to Law Firms." Garcia-Linares commented on the Florida House Bill (HB) 5401 for the new circuit court judgeships, stating, "Clearly, this is a continuation of the study [the courts] did in terms of what to do with the circuits. Thankfully, they decided not to combine circuits, which would have been a disaster. What they've done is they've added additional judicial positions to certain circuits that I guess the Supreme Court has decided are backlogged." Garcia-Linares said the decision not to add any judgeship in South Florida was regretful. "I don't see that they added any down here, which would have been great because we still obviously have a lot of matters to get through down here in Miami."
