Day Pitney Partner and GC Elizabeth Sher Sworn In as President of Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey
Day Pitney Litigation Partner and General Counsel Elizabeth (Beth) J. Sher was sworn-in as the President of the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey (AFBNJ) for the 2021-2022 term at a hybrid live/virtual ceremony on June 22. Sher will serve as a member of the executive committee that works with the Executive Director and the Board of Trustees to oversee and guide the Association. Her presidency will also be recognized at the organization's annual Brennan Award Reception in September 2021.
"I look forward to leading the AFBNJ as their President, and continuing the important work of the Association in bringing together lawyers and judges to foster cooperation, collaboration, and education for the benefit of the federal family," stated Sher.
Sher is a trial and appellate lawyer, who has represented many long-standing Day Pitney clients in complex commercial litigation throughout the United States. In addition, she has handled professional liability disputes, directors and officers liability defense, and consumer class action defense. Since May 2018, Sher has served as the firm's general counsel, assisting the firm's management and personnel with conflicts and ethics issues, risk management and compliance, contract review, and other legal matters.
The AFBNJ, launched in 1971, was established to allow judges, attorneys in private bar, and federal law enforcement attorneys to work together to enhance and strengthen professional relationships through dialogue, assistance, and training. Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, the AFBNJ has pursued those goals through annual meetings, receptions, and conferences that serve to sustain and enhance the strong ties between the federal Bench and Bar in New Jersey.
