Steven Cash was quoted in an article, "Meet the Trump-Appointed IG at Center of Whistleblower Drama," published by The Hill. The article focuses on Inspector General of the Intelligence Community Michael Atkinson, who first informed Congress of a whistleblower complaint that has since been revealed to involve a conversation between Trump and Ukraine's leader. As noted in the article, Atkinson and acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire had contrasting views on whether the complaint met the definition of an "urgent concern" and should be sent to Congress.
The position of intelligence community watchdog requires Atkinson to maintain a "sort of a dual loyalty to the executive branch and to Congress," Cash told The Hill. "He is precisely following the rules and being very, very careful on it," said Cash. "I suspect Maguire is also. It looks like everyone is trying to check every procedural and legal box as this moves forward."
On September 25, DC-based counsel Steven Cash will be a featured speaker at the National Forum on the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), an event presented by the American Conference Institute and held in Washington, DC.
