November 12, 2018 – Day Pitney LLP is pleased to announce that Daniel L. Gottfried has rejoined the firm as a partner in the Corporate and Business Law department and a member of the Tax practice group. He has assumed the role of Chair of Day Pitney's International Transactions practice and will be based in the firm's Hartford office. Gottfried was previously a partner at Hinckley Allen and an associate at Day Pitney.

Leading with strength in tax matters, Gottfried's practice encompasses structuring, negotiating and documenting business deals and investment transactions throughout the United States and around the world. This includes federal, state and international tax planning and compliance; corporate mergers, acquisitions and dispositions; joint ventures; partnerships; and S corporations. Gottfried also has particular experience assisting clients with tax issues relating to intellectual property assets.
Gottfried represents a variety of business entities, including publicly traded companies, entrepreneurial businesses, private investment funds and family office investors. Working across industries, he has experience in manufacturing, fintech, wireless communications, insurance, liquor and wine, energy, medical devices, higher education and emerging industries, such as blockchain, cryptocurrency and cannabis.

The arrival of Gottfried builds on the continued expansion of Day Pitney's Corporate and Business Law department, which has experienced significant growth over the past few years, especially in the areas of private equity, investment funds and family offices. The addition of Gottfried also supports the growth of the firm's international practice, which is further expanding through the recently announced merger with Richman Greer P.A., a law firm strategically located in the thriving metropolitan region of international trade and commerce in South Florida with offices in West Palm Beach and Miami.
Gottfried has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Connecticut School of Law. He is the immediate past Chair of the Tax Section of the Connecticut Bar Association. His other professional affiliations include serving in leadership roles on international tax, M&A, and joint venture committees for the American Bar Association and the Connecticut Bar Association. Among other articles and appearances, Gottfried has been featured on The New York Times, National Public Radio, Hollywood Reporter, Standard Federal Tax Reports, Hartford Business Journal and Tax Notes International.
Gottfried earned his B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Connecticut and his J.D., with honors, from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Connecticut.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's annual Day Pitney Palm Beach Family Office Forum, which had originally been scheduled for April 28 and 29, has been postponed to hopefully be rescheduled for later this year.
