Eric Fader was quoted in an article, "Watchdog Faults Slack Oversight of State Obamacare Exchanges," published in Bloomberg BNA's Health Care Daily Report. The article discusses a report by the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Inspector General (OIG) which found a lack of oversight of state insurance exchanges by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, especially regarding patient eligibility. Fader told Bloomberg BNA that since the exchanges, established under the Affordable Care Act, have only been operational since 2014, it's not surprising that there would be some lingering administrative issues to be resolved. "During the recent battle over the future of the ACA, and even before then, government resources that might have been devoted to improving the functioning and oversight of the exchanges were applied elsewhere," he observed. Fader added that the new report, plus other upcoming reviews of the exchanges as part of the OIG's Work Plan, seem to be a tacit acknowledgment that the exchanges will be in existence for the foreseeable future.
