He discussed the recent introduction of legislation by Chairman Grassley and Ranking Member Feinstein of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee's introduction of legislation that would clarify and refine existing anti-money laundering law. The bill is designed to rectify past legislative oversights and questionable legal rulings, Steven told the publication. "It is a not unexpected signal that certainly Congress is still concerned with the use of the financial system to facilitate crime. To the extent that there was any expectation that under the new [presidential] administration nobody would care about the banks anymore, this is one signal that that's not the case," Steven said.
