Day Pitney Partner David Doot Named Vice Chairman of Journey Home's Board
HARTFORD (October 6, 2014)?-- Journey Home, Inc., a non-profit focused on developing sustainable solutions to homelessness in the greater Hartford area, has named Day Pitney partner David Doot as vice chairman of its board of directors. He will be joining new Chair Betsy Crum to lead the organization.
"Day Pitney has a longstanding tradition of giving back to the communities in which we live and work," said Stanley A. Twardy, Jr., Day Pitney's Managing Partner. "Dave continues to make tremendous contributions to the greater Hartford area and we applaud his dedication and service."
Journey Home works to address the root causes of chronic homelessness in the Greater Hartford region. Partnering with the region's social service providers and community organizations, Journey Home has successfully spearheaded programs to simplify the process for matching the homeless with housing, to coordinate their medical care and supportive social services and to advance their employment skills and opportunities.
For Journey Home, Doot brings a career of solving complex problems through collaboration. For almost 30 years, he has represented public utility and energy law industry participants in their energy transactions and before state and Federal regulators, including representation of the New England Power Pool, which is a member organization of over 400 industry participants who collaborate on regional arrangements for trading and transmitted power in New England. He also served previously in leadership on the Boards of a non-profit dedicated to serving homeless men in Greater Hartford and in helping to form a charitable foundation for the national Energy Bar Association, for which he served as President.
When asked about Doot's willingness to step in as vice chairman, Mark Fox, retired chair of the board of directors, said "Dave understands what it takes to continue to grow and strengthen Journey Home. The organization has made great progress in addressing the root causes of homelessness in our region and I leave the board confident in the leadership of my successors in accelerating Journey Home's realization of its goals."
