(HARTFORD, April 29, 2014)?- Day Pitney received the top honors in this year's Connecticut Law Tribune Litigation Department of the Year Award. The publication noted in an article profiling Day Pitney's litigation department that the firm was named overall winner in the large law firm category because of the "depth of experience and breadth of skill sets" of its 139 litigators.
"Day Pitney's litigation department has represented some of the best-known companies in the state. Core clients have included national and global brands, such as Priceline.com and Wells Fargo bank, not to mention some of Connecticut's most venerable institutions, such as Yale University," according to the publication.
Day Pitney managing partner Stanley A. Twardy, Jr., told the CT Tribune that one of the firm's greatest strengths is the "diversity" of its litigation department. "We're split up into six areas of litigation, including torts, white collar and intellectual property; and the amount of work we have in each area will vary from year to year."
The CT Tribune competition was open to any litigation firm with a Connecticut presence that handles litigation. Submissions came from nearly 60 applicants competing in several categories, including the top three general litigation winners, one each among big firms, small firms and out-of-state firms with Connecticut offices. Eleven other firms were also honored in the several specialty practice areas. The winners of the awards will be honored at a gala dinner on May 28 at The Bond Ballroom.
