Day Pitney Sponsors "40 Women for the Next 40 Years" to Honor Outstanding Connecticut Women
(HARTFORD, March 28, 2014)?- Day Pitney has partnered with the Connecticut Women's Education and Legal Fund (CWEALF), one of the oldest women's rights organization in the country, to launch a one-year initiative titled "40 Women for the Next 40 Years." The program, which is part of CWEALF's 40-year anniversary celebration, will honor Connecticut women who are helping build opportunities for other women statewide.
"The Connecticut Women's Education and Legal Fund has accomplished much in 40 years, and we're excited to perpetuate this legacy through a new generation of leaders," said Asker Saeed, director of diversity at Day Pitney. "As a firm with 100 years of history and five offices statewide, we've experienced firsthand how important strong women are to our economy and community at large."
CWEALF, one of the oldest women's rights organization in the country, is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for women's rights and opportunities. CWEALF provides an information, referral and advocacy service while also training and empowering women in Connecticut to advocate for themselves. Each year, CWEALF helps thousands of women and low-income people navigate legal and social service systems. The group provides legal services focusing on family law, sex discrimination in employment and education, hate crimes and LGBT civil rights.
Day Pitney and CWEALF will choose from a pool of women candidates between the ages of 16-39 who reside in Connecticut and who have been nominated by individuals or organizations. Winners will be recognized for their potential and ability to demonstrate passion for contributing beyond the expected to their employers and/or communities.
"We're really looking for women who are not the managers or directors or executives, but rather those who are future leaders and women to watch," said Alice Pritchard, Executive Director at CWEALF. "We're seeking to honor women who go beyond their job descriptions and beyond the expected."
