(HARTFORD, January 16, 2014)--The Hartford City Council has unanimously elected Day Pitney partner Shawn T. Wooden for a second two-year term as council president. Mr. Wooden, who was elected president by the Council in 2012 after winning his first term as city council member, also serves as chairman of the council's Operations, Management, Budget and Legislative Affairs Committee.
"Day Pitney has a long history of involvement in community building and public service, and we are very proud of Shawn's election to a second term as council president," said Day Pitney Harford office managing partner Sam S.F. Caligiuri, a former state senator and acting mayor of the city of Waterbury.
Mr. Wooden, a partner in Day Pitney's Private Equity and Investment Funds practice, has extensive experience representing institutional investors and private fund managers. His practice includes handling company formations, debt and equity financings, strategic joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Wooden has served as special advisor for corporate transactions in the AFL-CIO's Office of Investment in Washington, DC, and was named one of the "Twenty-Five Investment Professionals to Watch," by Pensions and Investments Magazine.
"I look forward to continuing to promote economic development efforts and making Hartford's city government more transparent, accountable, and responsible with taxpayer dollars," said Wooden.
In December, the Connecticut National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) named Mr. Wooden to its "100 Most Influential Blacks in Connecticut" List for 2013. He is a graduate of the New York University School of Law.
