(HARTFORD, CT, December 17, 2013)-- Shawn T. Wooden has been named to the Connecticut National Association for the Advancement of Colored People's (NAACP) "100 Most Influential Blacks in Connecticut" for 2013. The NAACP will hold its state convention Friday, December 20, in New Haven, where Mr. Wooden, along with other honorees in the state, will be recognized.
"We are thrilled to honor African American men and women in Connecticut who are making a difference in our communities," said State President Scot X. Esdaile in a press release. "From education to entertainment, law enforcement to legislators, this represents some of the best and brightest who are leading the charge for change in the state."
Mr. Wooden, a partner in Day Pitney's Broker-Dealer, Investment Advisers and Commodities Firms practice, has extensive experience representing institutional investors and private fund managers. His practice also includes handling company formations, debt and equity financings, strategic joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Wooden has served as special advisor for corporate transactions in the AFL-CIO's Office of Investment in Washington, DC, and was named one of the "Twenty-Five Investment Professionals to Watch," by Pensions and Investments Magazine.
Mr. Wooden, a graduate of the New York University School of Law, is also currently serving as Council President for the city of Hartford.
