Day Pitney Hosts Lawyers Collaborative For Diversity
Day Pitney LLP is pleased to announce the return of Connecticut's Lawyers Collaborative For Diversity (LCD) to the firm's Hartford office. The not-for-profit group, which is devoted to increasing the recruitment, retention and advancement of lawyers of color, moves its headquarters every two years to the offices of a different member law firm to save office rental and operation costs.
"Day Pitney was one of the first members of LCD and the first law firm to host the group when it was founded in 2003, and we are happy to have LCD back as it celebrates its 10-year anniversary in 2013," said Day Pitney managing partner Stanley A. Twardy, Jr.
"Day Pitney has supported LCD's mission since its founding and we are very happy to welcome them back into our Hartford office," said Day Pitney Director of Diversity Asker A. Saeed. "We hope to be able to work even more closely with them in all their future initiatives."
Saeed said he looks forward to working closely with LCD over the next two years and to enhancing both the firm's diversity initiative and LCD's service to its member organizations.
"The host law firm for LCD lends to the organization not only physical space and technical operational support but, perhaps more importantly, the day-to-day good will and camaraderie that makes for a wonderful, productive working experience, legitimizing the efforts we make to improve opportunities for young men and women of color coming into the practice of law," said LCD Executive Director Carolyn Golden Hebsgaard. "As the first firm to host our organization, Day Pitney is a pioneer in advocating for a more diverse legal community and we're looking forward to the next two years with them as host again."
