Day Pitney LLP is pleased to announce the election of Ernest J. Mattei to the Connecticut Bar Association's House of Delegates. The House of Delegates is the primary decision-making and policy-making body of the CBA. Mattei will be representing District 12.
A seasoned trial lawyer who practices in the area of complex commercial disputes, Mattei has been an active member of the CBA and has served as member of the executive committees of CBA's Construction Law Section and Insurance Law Section. He was also past president of the Windsor Bar Association and the Hartford County Bar Association and a past member of the American Bar Association's Trial Evidence Committee.
At Day Pitney, Mattei focuses on insurance coverage litigation, construction litigation, professional liability defense, and matrimonial matters. He has represented clients in state and federal courts in Connecticut, Vermont, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Maine, Missouri, and Alabama. He also has been involved in numerous arbitration and mediation proceedings, as well as appeals to the Appellate and Supreme Courts of Connecticut and the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the Fourth Circuit.
He is the current Chairman of the Federal Grievance Committee of the District of Connecticut. In addition, he has been appointed as a special master and fact-finder/arbitrator by the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch and a special master by the Federal District Court for the District of Connecticut.
In 2009, Mattei was honored with a Man of the Year Award by the Trinity Club of Hartford. In 2012, Mattei was honored with the Father of Year Award by the American Diabetes Association. Mattei is a graduate of Trinity College (Hartford) and The Georgetown University Law Center.
