Day Pitney Taps Highly Regarded Advocate for Director of Diversity Role
Asker A. Saeed has been appointed Day Pitney LLP's new Director of Diversity. Saeed joins the northeast regional law firm from IAE International Aero Engines AG, a Pratt & Whitney joint venture, where he served most recently as Vice President?- Customer Business, Commercial. Prior to joining the customer business organization at IAE, Saeed served as Counsel and prior to that as Assistant Counsel at Pratt & Whitney.
During his tenure at Pratt & Whitney, Saeed served as the legal department's representative to the UTC Diversity Council and to many inter-company diversity initiatives in the United Technologies family of companies. He also served as vice-chair and chair of the legal department's Employee Empowerment Team. A co-founder and former president of the South Asian Bar Association of Connecticut (SABAC), Asker has also served on the executive committee of the North American South Asian Bar Association. He has received numerous awards for his diversity efforts, including the Connecticut Law Tribune's New Leaders of the Law award, the SABAC Member of the Year award and selection as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.

The Director of Diversity is a member of the firm's senior management team. In this capacity, Saeed will guide the further development and implementation of Day Pitney's strategic diversity plan and serve as a key thought leader, ambassador and advocate on diversity, inclusion and equity, keeping diversity in the forefront of all of the firm's initiatives.

In addition to developing new programs, Saeed will support and reinforce the many important diversity initiatives already in place at the firm, including the Day Pitney Attorneys of Color Network (DPAC) and the Barbara Rosenthal Summer Internship Program. Comprised of minority attorneys throughout the firm, DPAC's mission is to foster an inclusive environment that helps to ensure the success of attorneys of color. The Rosenthal Summer Internship Program provides rising diverse students in their junior or senior year of high school an opportunity to experience working in a law firm during six weeks of the summer. Saeed will also focus on enhancing the firm's participation in the New Jersey Law Firm Group, the Connecticut-based Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity and the Boston Lawyers Group, each of which embraces a common mission of increasing diversity in the legal profession.
A past chair of the Corporate Counsel Section of the Connecticut Bar Association, Saeed was previously in private practice with two major Connecticut law firms.
