Day Pitney's Edgardo Ramos Confirmed to Seat on Federal Bench
Day Pitney LLP is proud to announce that Edgardo Ramos, a partner in its White Collar Defense and Internal Investigations practice group, was confirmed by the United States Senate to serve as a federal judge on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Ramos has been a partner at Day Pitney since 2002.
"This is a great honor for Edgardo and we couldn't be happier for him," said Dennis R. LaFiura, chair of Day Pitney's Executive Committee. "He follows several distinguished Day Pitney alumni appointed to the federal bench, including former Supreme Court Justice William J. Brennan and Judge Stefan R. Underhill of the U.S. District Court in Connecticut. This is a testament to Edgardo's talents and experience and the firm's ongoing commitment to attracting and developing skilled lawyers, who are committed to public service."
President Obama nominated Ramos in May upon the recommendation of Senator Charles E. Schumer. Before joining Day Pitney, Ramos was an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York. Since 2003, he has served as a commissioner on the New York City Commission to Combat Police Corruption and has been a member of the Criminal Justice Act Panel since 2006.
