Eric Fader was quoted in an article, "Trump HHS Pick to Face Privacy, Security Challenges if Confirmed," published in Bloomberg BNA's Health Care Daily Report. The article discusses the nomination of Alex Azar to serve as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Sharing his insights on Azar's experience and the possible challenges he may face if confirmed, Fader told Bloomberg BNA that as an attorney and former deputy secretary at HHS, Azar will likely be a quick study on privacy and security issues notwithstanding his apparent lack of recent relevant experience. Fader pointed out that Azar would have to deal with staffing concerns and budget cuts to HHS divisions that handle privacy and security matters, including the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. These cuts will put added responsibilities on HHS staff that "may not be experienced or comfortable" handling privacy or cybersecurity issues, Fader said.
